Visa Matters
Q: What kind of visa will I be applying to become an au pair in China?
A: Au Pairs will be on either exchange visa (F visa) or student visa ( X2 visa) to participate in the program for no longer than 6 months.
If the au pair will participate in the program for 12 months, he/she has to apply for X1 visa to China. An alternative is to renew the visa for another 6 months after
6 months stay in China.

Q: Will Wanderlust assist me with the visa application process?
A: Wanderlust Exchange will not apply for the visa on your behalf, however, we will provide you with invitation letters or admission letter as supporting documents for applying for the visa to China.

Q: How long does the visa application process take?
A: Normally it takes 4-7 working days starting from the date of submission.(not including shipment time)

A: If you could provide legal residency in a foreign country(such as work visa, student visa ), you may apply for the visa to China in the Chinese embassy that you currently reside in.

Q: Do I have to pay for the visa fee by myself?
A: Yes, when you apply for the visa, you will have to pay for the visa fee yourself. However, the visa fee will be reimbursed upon your completion of the au pair program.

Q: Will I be able to travel abroad or travel back to my home country during my stay in China?
A: You will most likely receive a single entry visa to China, therefore, if you travel abroad during your stay in China, your visa will no longer be valid, thus you will have to reapply a visa to China.
